I thoroughly enjoyed Nick Green's two books Cat Kin and The Cat's Paw   and wanted to know the background to his writing the stories - here are his answers.

VW: What was your inspiration for Cat Kin?

NG: I read somewhere that cats rarely lose their natural agility, even when kept indoors, because (so the theory goes) all the stretching they do keeps them in shape. That sounded a bit like yoga - which my wife is very into. So it wasn't long before I started putting the two ideas together.

Nick Green has cranked up 'Cat's Paw, the sequel to Cat Kin by quite a few notches. The adventure is breathtaking from the first page onwards and just keeps on at a relentless pace for the whole book, with Ben and Tiffany seemingly on different paths. However Nick Green soon has us rooting for our heroes in trying to overcome the polecat bandits lead by Martin Fisher.

Cat Kin is a fantastic children's book that is full of mystery and drama, where children who have joined a 'gym class' run by Mrs Powell soon learn that she is more than different and really quite strange! She starts by teaching the children including Ben and Tiffany the ancient art of 'Pashki' that will give them cat like powers.
