Polly Evans

Mad Dogs and an Englishwoman is the fifth book that I've read of Polly Evans and every time she has me riveted to the pages with her journey through what ever country she is in. This time it is in the Yukon Territory of the far north west of Canada - the people she meets and places she goes to, but also the history that goes with the places.

Wow yet another fab read!

It's Not about the Tapas is her first book which is sub titled Around Spain on Two Wheels, but not on a motor bike but a bicycle - she certainly know how to look at countries in different ways!

Polly Evans certainly knows how to research her books and in Kiwi's Might Fly not only does she go out to New Zealand to see the how the real Kiwi man lives - but she learns to ride a motor bike and passes her test before she goes to visit New Zealand!

This is the third book of Polly Evan's that I have read and in this one she definitely does the journey by conventional transport. All four of her books are amazing, she knows so much about the history of the places that she visits and helps to explain where and what she sees in words as there are no picutes in her books. This seems a shame because some of the places that she visits would benefit from pictures to show why she found them so powerul and beautiful.

A well written travel book I think is the very best way to learn history and geography of another country.
