Keith Mansfield

Introduction

How can one not ask questions of author Keith Mansfield who has not one but two Gherkins standing next to each other in his book Johnny Mackintosh and the Spirit of London, which  Jayne very much enjoyed reading and asked the questions.

Interview

J: What gave you the idea to write a story like this?

KM: I've always thought it was such a waste that there's this wonderful universe out there but we're stuck in such a minute portion. Ever since I was little I wanted to see more of it, so I fantasised about being kidnapped by aliens and ending up with my own spaceship. Johnny's story came out of that, though it took me a long time to get around to writing it down.

Review

This is a perfect follow-up to the original book on Charley Boorman and Ewan McGreggor's book the Long Way down.  Why do I say this?Because it is a wonderfully photographic volume of the same trip.

There were so many amazing photos taken and filmed on that trip - many will have been seen on the six week evening showing on television of their trip going the long way down through Africa.

The Haunted House

Genre
Review

A wonderful book about a young child who moves into a large house at the end of the town.

This little girl is not scared at all, and as halloween comes around she finds out the house she lives in is full of ghosts and spooks, but to her this is not a problem.

Children will love this book which is printed in orange and black throughout, except for the ghosts who are  depicted in white.  A fantastic simple book that makes great fun of a subject that some kids are scared of and book for hallloween before trick and treating starts.

I would definitely recommend that people read Mariane's book rather than rely on the film that has been made to tell Daniel's story. The story defines the power of the human spirit from the the first line right till the last page,
