Rebus Audio Box Set - The first 10 Stories

Review

This is a brilliant set of amazing discs covering the first 10 books on 32CD's.

This set are read by two very well known people, James Macpherson and Bill Patterson. Both are fantastic at getting the stories across and doing the many voices that are needed for each book.  Because they both come from north of the border, Bill from Glasgow and James from Edinburgh there is that rich gaelic tone to their voices which is so perfect for these stories written by one of Edinburgh's finest - Ian Rankin.

Another great Rebus book. This is an old one but I have only just managed to get a copy from the library.

The Black Book looks back at one of Rebus cold cases, one that they never got an answer to, but Rebus as usual has been suspended from duty because he has been given a gun which he should not be carrying in his car! What he doesn't know is that it is the gun that shot the person dead in the fire at the hotel.

On Resurrection Man the atmosphere on the cd is amazing and creepy. We join this story the day after a man is gunned down at his own front door. No-one seems to know or have seen anything that happened. Rebus gets thrown of this case by the Chief inspector and then gets sent back to the police traing college, where he is put into a group of six similar officers - people who have a problem with the methods of the police institution that they work for. ..read more

The Naming of the Dead

Review

This story is set in and around the tight time frame of the G8 summit in Edinburgh which works very well.

DI John Rebus has been pushed to the sidelines because his bosses do not want him to be an embarressment to them when the eyes of the world are on Edinburgh because of the summit. Things change though when during the night a young politician falls to his death from the walls of Edinburgh Castle which automatically drags Rhebus back into the limelight.
