I was unable to put down this book. It held my interest to the very end. With vivid descriptions and a fine sense of place, an introduction to the landscape of the high desert west together with her distinctive characters soon captivated my imagination and left me with a story to remember long after closing the book. Although the faith level is low, it is the catalyst that resolves Muri's ultimate search. A very satisfying read.

2 short stories; ‘Christmas Letters' and ‘The Perfect Christmas.

Both of the stories carry a similar theme of finding love with the most unlikely characters, but probably the most predictable.

The book was an easy read, the type of book to curl up with on a cold winter's day. Easily read in a couple of sittings. However I found the storyline rather shallow. I would have liked to have a greater sense that the stories were set in Seattle, more about the historic waterfront perhaps - the stories could have been set in any city.

As a mathematician I was drawn to the title of this book Two events from their childhood define Alice and Mattia's lives . Seven-year-old Alice is forced by her father to attend skiing lessons. One day, while she's waiting to go skiing, she dirties herself. She tries to get back home and falls, breaking her leg badly and earning herself a permanent limp. Mattia has a developmentally challenged twin sister, Michela, who poves to be a great embassment to him, and one day he leaves her in a park, with the promise he will be coming back to take her home soon. ..read more
