Synopsis

Jack worships luck and decides his actions by the flip of a coin. No risk is too great if the coin demands it. Luck brings him Jess, a beautiful singer who will change his life. But Jack's luck is running out, and soon the stakes are high. As chance and choice unravel, the risks of Jack's game become terrifyingly clear. An evening of heady recklessness, and suddenly a life hangs in the balance, decided by the toss of a coin. In the end, it is the reader who must choose whether to spin that coin and determine: life or death.

Review

This is a very good story written for older children with a very strong message about life and the consequences of your actions.

Jack is the main character and he believes in luck with the flick of a coin. Nicola Morgan has written the story in two slighly different ways so that the reader can flick a coin and read the version the coin depicts, or read both versions and pick the one that they enjoyed most which I am sure most readers will do.

This is a love story about Jack who falls in love with the beautiful Jess but a disagreement in the Bar and the wrong thing said at the wrong time changes their lifes forever.

I feel sorry for Keeley Jones because she was not a bad girl, but she got mixed up with up with the wrong crowd and paid a terrible price in both versions.

I enjoyed this book very much because it graphically depicts life today with one parent families, trying to bring up their children on their own, and the young people growing up in a world where the availabilty of drink and drugs are a way of life.

An excellent book with a terrific punch, although I found parts of it quite disturbing but unfortunatly that is life today. Highly Recommended.
