Two decades after radiocarbon dating declared the Turin Shroud a medieval fake, brand-new historical discoveries strongly suggest that this famous cloth, with its extraordinary photographic imprint, is genuinely Christ's shroud after all. In 1978 in his international bestseller "The Turin Shroud", Ian Wilson ignited worldwide public debate with his compelling case endorsing the shroud's authenticity. Now, 30 years later, he has completely rewritten and updated his earlier book to provide fresh evidence to support his original argument. Shroud boldly challenges the current post-radiocarbon dating view - that it is a fake. By arguing his case brilliantly and provocatively, Ian Wilson once more throws the matter into the public arena for further debate and controversy.
Review
This book updates all other previous research on the Shroud. Ian wilson has written an extraodinary account
tracing the Shroud from where it was laid in the tomb until the present day.
Although there are many factors relating to archaeology, the historical side of it, and the religious angle, the reader never feels over awed with facts.
This book is a mammoth pierce of research and what I find most amazing is that the Shroud is still here after two thousand years! It has been through fires and floods and on occassions has been displayed to the public on Easter Sunday. I would have thought that displaying it in strong sun light in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries would have faded the image of Christ and bleached the cloth, but it hasn't! A fascinating book I enjoyed it very much.
