Synopsis

Amy Harper Bellafonte is six years old and her mother thinks she's the most important person in the whole world. She is. Anthony Carter doesn't think he could ever be in a worse place than Death Row. He's wrong. FBI agent Brad Wolgast thinks something beyond imagination is coming. It is. THE PASSAGE.

Review

Using the virus culled from mutating vampire bats, the military (American of course) create human vampires using death row criminals, I'm not quite sure why. Needless to say all does not go well and the virals escape, causing complete breakdown of society and resulting in the only chance of humankind's salvation resting with a young girl.

Very patchy, some really good chapters and characters but an awful lot of not very interesting stuff. It reads almost like a series of novellas. Maybe it would be better if read again, but I can't be bothered, and the knowledge that this may be the first in a trilogy is completely underwhelming.

If you like post-apocalyptic, scary vampire reading, then you may be prepared to overlook the feeling that you have read all this somewhere before - if not, avoid.
