Review
This is one of Tess Gerritson's earlier novels which kept me engrossed from page one; she has a wonderful way of keeping you guessing all the way to the end which she certainly has with this book 'The Mephisto Club'.
The settings, flitting from the USA to Italy and back to the USA again keep your mind alert wondering what will be around the next corner. The two police colleagues Detective Jane Rizzoli and the Police Coroner Dr. Maura Isles play a joint but separate magnificent parts within the story. When it's discovered that the first crime seems to be two crimes intwined it is at that point that they realise that the first crime is not going to be the last, but the start of a pattern that they just have to stop; so both women do what ever it takes to solve these awful deaths.
Tess Gerritson because of her background as a physician, has major amounts of knowledge that she can bring into her books from work in emergency and autopsy situations. She also did quite a large study of anthropology at university and around the world, helping to catalogue centuries old human remains. This knowledge is a great bonus and allows her to infusing her knowledge of human life into her books, which helps them to read as though they are really happening as if reading it in the local news that you are following day by day.
Amazing plot, and wonderful script throughout, Tess knows how to construct a story that is hair-raising, and is fully flowing from page one to the very last page.
