Review

The Gypsy Crown is set in 1658 in and around Kingston in Surrey with a few forays into Wiltshire and Kent.

I was absolutely swept away with Kate Frosyth's story not just because it was so good but because I knew the areas she was writing about, even down to some of the markets and roads in Kingston and Epsom Downs. It is quite extraordinary that time has not changed a thing even down to the pubs and churches!

Kate gives children Emilia and Luke one heck of a journey in trying to find the five charms in order to save their family from execution! The animals involved are carefully woven into the story and nothing is laid to waste. There are the thrills and spills as well as the fun and some poignant episodes to keep an even balance, coupled with some well researched historical facts, moving everything along at a rollicking pace.

Although this is a book for children, I think there are many adults who would enjoy it too! I more than highly recommend it. Listen to Katie here .
