Synopsis

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a murder mystery novel like no other. The detective, and narrator, is Christopher Boone. Christopher is fifteen and has Asperger's, a form of autism. He knows a very great deal about maths and very little about human beings. He loves lists, patterns and the truth. He hates the colours yellow and brown and being touched. He has never gone further than the end of the road on his own, but when he finds a neighbour's dog murdered he sets out on a terrifying journey which will turn his whole world upside down.

Review

THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT is a caring and also funny book in parts about a young boy with Autistic Spectrum Disease. On the front cover there is a quote from Ian McEwan which says "Mark Haddon's portrayal of an emotionally dissociated mind is a superb achievement. He is a wise and bleakly funny writer with rare gifts of empathy"

I found myself empathising with Christopher the young boy - because I can relate to that feeling of wanting to run away form everyone when things get to much. I also know how it feels to be in the midst of people and loud noises and just need to get out also. Christopher has a passion for Maths which he excells at. He has learnt pattens of ways to cope with his life and how to get from a-b.

There are the odd funny passages but this book is a real insight into how a person with Autism can react to the real world. I read this book in one hit. I have just read it again to see if I missed any part of it but know its an amazing book about something that lots of people do not want or wish to think about.

I have seen quite a few write-ups on Amazon and they were from young people and they loved the book. I think I can say that everyone who reads this book will get something out
of the book.
