Synopsis

Melissa Wareham always wanted to work with dogs - and got her first job at the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, cleaning out the kennels! Over the years she met thousands of lost pets, including mongrel Tulip, who liked to ride solo on the 159 bus, stinky Pepe le Pew who was in dire need of a bath, and Benjamin the lurcher, chosen to greet the Queen when she visited the Home.

Review

A book that tells the story of Battersea Dog's and Cat's Home, from Melissa Wareham's personal point of view, from when she first started - just cleaning the kennels and walking the dogs to now!

A wonderful heart warming story that draws you in immediately and having had a collie cross retriever (who used to round us all up!) and now a 16 year old black lurcher who's surrounded by cats - the book felt very personal.

Melissa is very good at communicating the needs of the animals and the inner workings of Battersea Dog's and Cat's Home. I enjoyed the book very much and it was a nice touch to have photos of our canine characters at the back.

Highly recommend it for young and old.
