Synopsis

A new BBC Radio 4 full-cast dramatisation of Ian Rankin's novel. Rebus is ordered to join a team working on an old case, but someone on the team wants it to remain unsolved. Meanwhile, the murder of an art dealer draws Sergeant Clarke into an encounter with a notorious gangster - that Rebus is also investigating. "The Falls" was previously dramatised and released by Radio Collection, and this production is made by the same people. Bert Coules (who dramatised the Sherlock Holmes canon) is the adaptor, and the producer is Bruce Young for BBC Scotland.

Review

On Resurrection Man the atmosphere on the cd is amazing and creepy. We join this story the day after a man is gunned down at his own front door. No-one seems to know or have seen anything that happened. Rebus gets thrown of this case by the Chief inspector and then gets sent back to the police traing college, where he is put into a group of six similar officers - people who have a problem with the methods of the police institution that they work for. They are given an old case to work on and then gets pulled out of the college to go under cover to look into the case of a man who has died in prison.

Meanwhile the Scottish Crime Squad have a favour to ask of Rebus, they've found someone who can deliver information on notorius gangster, 'Big Ger' Cafferty - but they need a go between. They've decided on Rebus, whether he likes it or not. In Edinburgh, a newly-promoted Detective Sergeant Siobhan Clarke investigates the death of the murdered art dealer, a case which will lead back to Cafferty - and to Rebus.

Ian Rankin's gritty crime thriller was well dramatised as a BBC Radio 4 programme with a full cast. I just love to listen to the Scottish voices, and it is so well done and draws you into the story and yet keeps you guessing.
