Review
Quicksilver is a book, brought to us by Sam Osman, about three kids from around the world that have somehow come together in a (made up) run down London 'burb! Apparently this town is very close to Crystal Palace and Dulwich... but that's by the by! Wolfie who is native to the London 'burb, Tala and Zi'ib who hail from continents far and wide, are drawn to the town of Thornham by mysterious magical forces to begin an adventure that will fulfil an ancient prophecy...... Oooh.. Sounds exciting???
Well, let me tell you.. It is rather exciting! Sam Osman has done a brilliant job of fleshing out her characters making them likeable, whole people! She's also done a great deal of research on the mysterious forces that drive this adventure. So watching the kids get into various scrapes and troubles at school, as their powers unfurl, is quite fun. The world of Quicksilver quite literally sucks you in and you find the fast pace, subcultural understanding of Earth Mysteries, plot-line and characters, really makes for a grabbing read! I'd say kids aged 10+ would love it.. but that's not to exclude adults who would a real kick out of Quicksilver. It might not be mindbendingly thought provoking or incredibly complex, but you'll enjoy it regardless!!
