Synopsis

On the night Brian Bishop murdered his wife, he was sixty miles away, asleep in bed at the time. At least, that's the way it looks to Detective Superintendent Roy Grace who is called in to investigate the kinky slaying of beautiful young Brighton socialite, Katie Bishop. Soon, Grace starts coming to the conclusion that Bishop has performed the apparently impossible feat of being in two places at once. Has someone stolen his identity, or is he simply a very clever liar? As Grace digs deeper behind the facade of the Bishops' outwardly respectable lives, it starts to become clear that all is not at all as it first seemed. And then he digs just a little too far, and suddenly the fragile stability of his own troubled, private world is facing destruction ...Praise for "Looking Good Dead": 'James is a master plotter ...this follow-up to "Dead Simple" cannot fail to thrill' - "Daily Mail". 'Will have you glued to your deckchair' - "Observer".

Review

This is the first Peter James book I have read and I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

The plot and the outcome no one would ever dream could be what is successfully plotted through this book. How did Peter think up such an amazing plot and the insight he has of police business and proceedures is just amazing. The plot revolves around a high powered man named Brian Bishop and he supposidly murdered his wife when he was some sixty miles away from his home at the time. A second murder occurs and then further twists and turns which should not be possible but wait and see and read the book for the answers.

I got my answers to this perplexing problem of his insight when I was lucky to hear a broadcast from Southern Counties Radio where they were discussing the book that comes after this one and the broadcaster explained that Peter had done heavy research on police proceedures and had even gone as far as being in the Autopsey room when a criminal investigation was taking place. I then realised this was a man who was determined not to miss represent what an oficer in the force would be expected to do to solve a crime.

I loved this book and when, I get the chance to read his latest book I will be sat in a chair and woe behold any one who disturbs me!
