Review

This book shows what happened to normal people during the second world war. In 1938, Ulrike Walter, a beautiful young German musician, is engaged to be married to Erich, a member of the Hitler Youth. But when she meets Inspector Ross, a Scotland Yard officer, whose father is a Colonel in the British Intelligence, and how her life will change for ever. When war is declared, Her only hope of rescure is Cameron, who despite his better judgement, is falling in love with her. Ulrike is a great musicion and loves all the music that they were not allowed to play in Germany, but had been able to get hold of the music and play those wonderful pieces that were banned in their homeland. Ulike flees from German for the safety of England but instead is cruelly imprisoned as an enemy alien.

Then her fiance is capture by the British and held as a prisoner of war in England. He then is interrogated by Inspector Ross, the one man who stands between him and Ulike, the woman who means much more to Erich than life itself. I found this book a moving and intriguing book and I understand that this is one of a series of six books and I am looking forward to reading another.
