Written in a style familiar to his millions of listeners, rich with warmth and irony, Terry introduces his post-Emergency Ireland, his chain-smoking maiden aunts, his quick-witted mother and hard-working father, the (not so) Christian Fathers who tried to knock his hands off and explains how - exactly - he's managed to avoid a hard day's work from childhood to Knighthood. As never before Terry discusses his life with the BBC, what he really does at the Eurovision every year and where he learnt to breakdance so brilliantly. It is the autobiography his fans - and TOGs - have been waiting for: fresh, honest and a real craic.
Review
Mustn't Grumble is a great listen with lots of anecdotes from all part of Terry Wogan's life.
Should he have left the bank where he used to work? All I can say is that the world of radio and tv would have been much worse of without him - I mean what would the Eurovision Song Contest be like without him! Would you watch it without his dulcet tones giving the commentary with the ever so slightly sarcastic overtones!
But Terry's life is so much more - he is a person with a mega large personality who seems to be involved with everything and has the Irish blarney and the gift of the gab as well as being able to talk the hind legs of a jack ass and he uses it all for the good.
I very much enjoyed this audio cd and it certainly made the slow driving down to Dorset much more entertaining.
