Young children will identify with the little mouse who uses the pages of this book to document his fears - from loud noises and the dark, to being sucked down the plughole. Packed with details and novelty elements including flaps, die-cuts and even a hilarious fold-out map, this is an extraordinary picture book. It is a winner of the Kate Greenaway Medal 2008.
Review
There is so much going on in this book that will keep a child busy for hours, but it is also a book that a parent can go through and have the opportunity to talk about any fears the child may have. There are bits nibbled out of the pages, a map to look at, flaps to lift up - again the art work is incredible - I really enjoyed reading Little Mouse's Big Book of Fears.
Emily Gravett richly deserves winning the Kate Greenaway Medal for this book.
