Review
This is the first of the Jack the Station Cat books I have read, this one being about Vandal the mysterious stranger cat who visits Sheffield Park Station on a mission.
David(my husband), Naomi(my autistic daughter) and I had actually met Vandal a couple of years ago at Sheffield Station. She was very thin and ravenously hungry - Alan was able to tell me that Vandal had been suffering from an overactive thyroid and was being treated for it. Unfortunately Vandal died recently from cancer and is now buried in the Sheffield Park gardens.
This book is a wonderful way of remembering her as a healthy cat full of vim and vigour and adventure - well she now a he for our story, had to be if he was going to meet Sir Dodinas the Savage, Superintendant of Britain's Station snails!
A brilliant story that I very much enjoyed reading and one that both parents and children can enjoy reading together. The illustrations are by Nigel Cliff.
