Synopsis

When Harry and his best friends go back for their third year at Hogwarts, the atmosphere is tense. There's an escaped mass-murderer on the loose and the sinister prison guards of Azkaban have been called in to guard the school. Lessons, however, must go on and there are lots of new subjects in third year - Care of Magical Creatures and Divination among others - to take Harry's mind off things!

Review

Harry, Ron and Hermione return for their third year at Hogwarts, all is not good in the wizarding world, Sirius Black has escaped from the famed prison Azkaban.

This is where the series begins to darken in tone, we start to see some the prejudices that are rife in the magical community, who apart from Dumbeldore would trust a werewolf. The Dementors are a nice touch, even if they are a bit like the Ring Wraiths from Lord of the Rings.

In what is the last of the short reads, Harry finds he does have a family though not of the blood variety.

Of the books that have been made into films, this is my favourite so far though I think it might have to vie with Order of the Pheonix soon.
