Synopsis

Dumbledore lowered his hands and surveyed Harry through his half-moon glasses. 'It is time,' he said, 'for me to tell you what I should have told you five years ago, Harry. Please sit down. I am going to tell you everything.' Harry Potter is due to start his fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizadry. He is desperate to get back to school and find out why his friends Ron and Hermione have been so secretive all summer. However, what Harry is about to discover in his new year at Hogwarts will turn his whole world upside down...But before he even gets to school, Harry has an unexpected and frightening encounter with two Dementors, has to face a court hearing at the Ministry of Magic and has been escorted on a night-time broomstick ride to the secret headquarters of a mysterious group called 'The Order of the Phoenix'. And that is just the start. A gripping and electrifying novel, full of suspense, secrets, and - of course - magic.

Review

In fifth year at Hogwarts Harry finally learns of the prophecy foretold by Professor Trelawney many years before.

What touched me most about Order of the Phoenix was the little extra things that we found out, such as the rest of the gang discovering Neville's secret about his parents while visiting St. Mungo's. I couldn't help but feel for Neville, the way his parents are so precious to him but he has no-one to talk to about them apart from his battle ax of a grandmother.

I just loved Luna Lovegood and how she just marches to the beat of her own drum regardless of what is going on around her and like Neville she is absolutely true to her friends, showing more courage than those who would mock her.

People get hurt, and not just that, they die too. Where I felt cheated at the end of the last book with Cedric Diggory, I was saddened at the end of this one because once again Harry has lost someone important in his life.

For someone you just have to hate Professor Umbridge is your woman, she cruelly and visciously in an insipid way sets out to destroy Hogwarts and all that it and Dumbledore stands for.

But the absolute best part of the whole book would have to be how Fred and George systematically set about breaking Prof. Umbridge. The Weasley twins make possibly the most spectacular exit ever seen in Hogwarts history. It left me smiling for days just thinking about it.
