Synopsis

The summer holidays are dragging on and Harry Potter can't wait for the start of the school year. It is his fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and there are spells to be learnt and (unluckily) Potions and Divination lessons to be attended. But Harry can't know that the atmosphere is darkening around him, and his worst enemy is preparing a fate that it seems will be inescapable.

Review

The fourth year at Hogwarts sees the return of Harry, Ron and Hermione and the introduction of a few more characters. For the first time in ages the Tri-Wizard Tournament is being held, with competitors hailing from Hogwarts, Beaubatons and Durmstrang.

Right from the start at the Quidditch World Cup when the Death Eaters disrupt everything and leave a the dark mark hovering over the sight, I felt how scary it would be to come home and find that mark over my home. There's hope in the form of the Order of Phoenix, the few witches and wizards who have the courage to stand up Voldemort and his followers.

When Dumbledore gives a fleeting smile at the end of the book I felt completely torn about him, was he perhaps working for the dark side or was there another reason for it. It was enough to whet my appetite for the next book, which was a very long time in coming.

Voldemorts return is dramatic and while we were warned of the death of a character most of us couldn't help but feel a little bit cheated when it turned to be one of the peripheral characters. Not that I'm baying for blood of course, I'm all for Harry and Co. beating Voldemort.
