Synopsis

This is a remarkable sequel to the best-selling "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone". Harry Potter is a wizard. He is in his second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Little does he know that this year will be just as eventful as the last even getting there is an adventure in itself! The three firm friends, Harry, Ron and Hermione, are soon immersed in the daily round of Potions, Herbology, Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, and Quidditch. But then horrible and mysterious things begin to happen. Harry keeps hearing strange voices, sinister and dark messages appear on the wall, and then Ron's sister Ginny disappears.

Review

Having survived his first year at Hogwarts and the returning spectre of Voldemort, Harry returns for his second year.

This is possible the least popular book out of the series, it lacks much of the wonder that the first book had and doesn't have quite the same build up of action and sense of danger that the later books have.

However, I still enjoyed the story and many of the incidents that occur in it like the Weasley twins and Ron using the flying Ford Anglia to break Harry out of the Dursleys house. Ron defending Hermiones honour when Malfoy insults her is a classic when it typically backfires and he ends up spending a night regurgitating slugs all night.

Even the Hugh Grant type character of Gilderoy Lockheart adds to the overall smile factor of the book.
