Synopsis

In the sensational sequel to "Poison Study" and "Magic Study", Yelena's apprenticeship is over - now her real test has begun. When word that Yelena is a Soulfinder - able to capture and release souls - spreads like wildfire, people grow uneasy. Already Yelena's unusual abilities and past have set her apart. As the Council debates Yelena's fate, she receives a disturbing message: a plot is rising against her homeland, led by a murderous sorcerer she has defeated before."Honour" sets Yelena on a path that will test the limits of her skills, and the hope of reuniting with her beloved spurs her onward. Her journey is fraught with allies, enemies, lovers and would-be assassins, each of questionable loyalty. Yelena will have but one chance to prove herself - and save the land she holds dear.

Review

Ok so in this final part of the story Yelena finds out who, or rather, what she is. But she needs training! Of course Yelena, on the other hand, does what she always does. She doesn't listen. Thinks she knows best! Goes her own way, etc., then wonders why there's a whole heap of trouble following her, her brother and her lover, everywhere she goes. It seems to me the strength of Snyder's lead character is her fickleness, inability to learn, and her reliance on all around her to bail her out of disaster. Yelena does have some very important lessons to learn, but it seems that she will never get to learn them!

All the character in this series of books are very likeable or perfectly hateable. The storyline doesn't really twist and turn, and is fairly predictable but the scenery is nice and rich along the way.

I'm also not totally sure if the "story" is now over or if Yelena has more trouble she can heap on herself.
