Synopsis
Why is 'being happy' such an imperative nowadays? What meaning do people give happiness? In this audiobook Abbot Christopher turns to monastic wisdom to offer answers, and to explain that in essence happiness is a gift not an achievement, the fruit of giving and receiving blessings. Everybody is searching for happiness but not everybody knows how to find it. In modern Britain, more and more people say that their life is too materialistic and superficial, which leads to a feeling of dissatisfaction. Our consumer culture encourages the belief that happiness comes with pleasure, but this book will challenge that belief and encourage alternative approaches to how we view happiness. Following the same accessible and engaging format of Finding Sanctuary, Abbot Christopher looks in turn at what makes us unhappy. As we face the causes of our unhappiness, we are blessed with an authentic joy that is the real meaning of happiness
Review

Abbot Christopher Jamison has produced a second series of discs from the TV series 'The Monastery'.

The first series of cds were on 'Finding Sanctuary'  he has followed this up, with this cd series on 'Finding Happiness'.  Many would consider that if you can find a place of sanctuary you should be able to find happiness. But for some this is not the case, sanctuary is where you go to find peace and stillness, for some this is the perfect place to find happiness and fullfilment within themselves. As Abbot Jamison says, everybody is searching for happiness but not everybody knows where to find it.

Here in Britain, and the world more and more are finding that the materialistic attitude is superficial, which leads to a feeling of dissatisfaction, our culture encourages us to look for more and more, but with recession comes less and less for more and more cost. He encourages us to be challenged and look for alternative approaches to finding that pefect happiness.  Abbot Christopher looks into the demons that make us unhappy, and as we learn to crush these demons then we learn the real meaning of happiness.

These are beautifully structured discs and having listened to Finding Happiness and also Finding Sanctuary, Abbot Christopher has a great deal to tell us all about what real peace and happiness are all about.

Abbot Christopher definitely does not pre-judge anyone and in fact I found his insights a great help. He is not self-righteous, smug or preachy and his general guidance is well thought out and for many will be spot on.
