Written by the father of Stephen Oake, a policeman killed whilst on duty. This book is a very moving account of forgiveness. Without his christian faith Mr Oake could well have ended up filled with hatred and bitterness, he tells honestly of how it was possible to forgive the murder of his son. An inspiration to all who will read it.
Review
This book is written about how a father deals with the death of his son Stephen who was killed by a terroist whilst on active duties as a Special Branch officer in the police in America.
Mr Oakes senior flies into the state where the press conference is to be held and is asked the question: "how do you feel about your son's killer?" His response is to say he forgives the killer totally and utterly without anger because, her understands that if God forgives us we must forgive others including his son's killer.
His family are not surprised by his response because they all have the same strong faith. But Robin (Stephen's father) starts a chain reaction throughout the country and other parts of the world that he visits of "forgiveness and reconcilliation".
This book has had a profound effect on me over the last two weeks and was immensly encouraging because by forgiving you are forgiven and the heavy weight and burdens we carry can be removed and a light rim of spirit decends on the forgiven person and the one who forgives.
A former commisioner of the Metropolitan Police, Lord John Stevens said: "This is an inspirational story of a family to forgive and a fitting tribute to their son Stephen's memory. His family is an example to us all of Christian forgiveness."
