WHO KILLED ROSE RED?- In Fabletown, where fairy tale legends live alongside regular New Yorkers, the question is all anyone can talk about. But only the Big Bad Wolf can actually solve the case - and, along with Rose's sister Snow White, keep the Fabletown community from coming apart at the seams. FABLES: LEGENDS IN EXILE collects the first five issues of writer and creator Bill Willingham's acclaimed new VERTIGO series (superbly illustrated by Lan Medina, Steve Leialoha, and Craig Hamilton), and includes a new FABLES short story written and illustrated by Willingham.
Review
Sounds like a dream come true - the perfect "What If" story. What if the fairy tales were real and lived in contemporary America? Bill Willingham writes a fantastic story that weaves all the barely recognisable characters from fable into a cohesive and wonderful whole. In this story you'll meet the Wolf from Little Red Riding Hood; Snow White; Little Red Riding Hood; Jack the Giant Killer; Beauty AND the Beast and more! Just don't expect them to resemble the characters you grew up with.
Willingham has created a little "Who dunnit" in order to introduce these key players into the story; to explain the politics of fable town and how the live with the Mundy's (that's you and me!!). This is a delightful story, lovingly crafted with a great sense of humour. I loved reading it and am looking forward to the next tpb!
