Review

Dead Mans Cove by Lauren St John is the first book in a series of four mysteries with 11 year old Laura Marlin as the detective. Laura who has lived in a childrens home all her life moves to Cornwall to live with her Uncle.

Laura is such a delightful character because she is a very determined caring girl, so when strange events keep on occuring in St Ives Laura is on the trail. I like the way the tentive relationship between Laura and her Uncle gradually blossoms into love and respect, and her friendship with a Hindu boy called Tariq has startling results. I enjoyed this book because it is well written with a good plot and an exciting finale. Highly recommended.
