Review
David Hewson has done it again with his new novel about Nic Costa, his Italian copper based in the city of Rome with this being number seven in the series.
This case not only takes place in Rome but also in San Franscisco where Nic and four colleages follow the film crew back to continue investigations. There is always a girl to protect and you've guessed it Nic takes on the job.
Dante's Numbers to me was an unusual title but then David Hewson in the story explains what they are and enlightens the reader, and that takes part one of the intrigue out of the way but opens up many more puzzles as he goes along.
David Hewson is a brilliant author and I thoroughly enjoy his writing, with all of his books being at least 300 to 400 pages long, but every page is filled with interesting facts, clues and sometimes extra imformation about the place the case takes place in. San Francisco is a beautiful city and the area where this plays out up by the Golden Gate Bridge is exceptional. I found I could see the places mentioned by David and especially the bits where he talks about the film Herbie (the car) going down the long hills to the sea.
We will have to wait and see if David has another book about Nic Costa in the pipeline, I hope so because he captures the reader from page one till the end, still not letting on who is the real perpetrator of the crimes .
