The park - a place where children play, friends sit and gossip and people walk their dogs. But in the shadows a predator watches...and waits...then chooses his first victim. But someone has seen the killer and come forward as a witness - someone who the killer must stop at all costs. For DS Geraldine Steel, it is a race against time to find the killer as two more bodies are found.
Review
Cut Short is the debut crime novel by Leigh Russell.
The story is about a serial killer and the police investigation. I like the character of D.I.Gerealdine Steele because I could identify with her - she comes across as a hard working humane person who is very much in tune with the people around her.
I found the beginning of the book difficult to get into, becouse so much was taken up with police procedure and not enough action, but as it progressed it improved. If nothing else this gave me an insight into the number of hours that the police put into a murder investigation with very little result.
Leigh Russel writes in quite an abrupt style with short sentences and short chapters but she gets her points across with maximum effect.
A well thought out plot with a good story line and a brilliant achievement for a first book.
