Four million captivated viewers watched Charley Boorman complete his last adventure - LONG WAY DOWN - which took him from John O'Groats to Cape Town. Along with Ewan Mc Gregor he achieved not only this amazing feat, but also circumnavigated the globe on the LONG WAY ROUND. In between these two incredible journeys, he found the time to compete in the Dakar Rally, telling his story in his bestselling book RACE TO DAKAR. Charley's passion for travel and adventure continues in his new challenge - BY ANY MEANS. Travelling from his home town in Co Wicklow all the way to Sydney, he will use any means he can to reach his destination, via transport as diverse as steam train, horse, boat, kayak, truck, and tuk-tuk. And of course his beloved motorbike! Whether crossing the Black Sea, trekking through Tibet, riding an elephant in India or hiking through the forests of Papua New Guinea, this will be a unique opportunity to meet fascinating people and explore extraordinary places. With trademark enthusiasm, dedication and good humour, Charley's new trip is set to be his most challenging yet.

Review
This book by Charley Boorman is brilliant. By Any Means was a great feat, and a fantastic idea. I have seen the television show and now have read the book. Both had me enthralled.
Charley has a very personable manor and this comes out so wonderfully in the book and you can feel not only the challenge but also the commeradery that is shared between Russ, Charley and Mungo the camera man. The banter between the three is very much a part of the trip and when they write their travels up about what has been happening, it comes forth in glowing colours!
Charley has a way of letting everyone know that he is enjoying what he is up to with that big cheeky grin of his, as well as it coming through in the well chosen pictures that illustrate the book. At times I felt as though I was with him on what ever transport they were experiencing, especially around the areas of Cambodia, Thailand and travelling down to Singapore where I remember the scenery and the hardships of the countries that Charley talks about, from days I spent around there many years ago.
This is a book well worth having and keeping a long side the other books relating to Charley's trips, which include the Race to Dakar, Long Way Round and Long Way down. Let us hope Charley comes up with another great trip that we can read about soon.
