Review

This second collection is one of the best short story cd's I've heard in a long time, and reminds me of Clive Barkers Books of Blood for pure originality and awesomeness. Each story had a different feel, a different nuance -though not all of them could be called horror, some were more poignant than others- but all were brilliant and inspiring. There were times when I was really creeped out by the Hill's ideas (and also a little peeved, because I often wished that I'd thought of them first...)

I would recommend Joe Hill's writings to anyone that love horror, and who miss the buzz from reading such well crafted stories. Prepare to go on a wonderful, and often frightening, journey looking for your own 20th Century Ghosts.

Bobby Conroy Comes Back From The Dead is a touching love story on the set of George Romero's Dawn Of The Dead, and The Black Phone is a very scary tale full of unnerving twists. The mood of these stories is often dark, but quite often the humanity of the characters shine through - which, actually, sometimes heightens the horror of the tales as you end up empathising more with them.

David Ledoux manages to masterfully convey all the nuances of Jo Hill's writings and adds to the stories tensions. If anything, the audio cd makes the stories more creepy because you relinquish the element of control which makes the journey that much more unnerving.
