Synopsis

The inspiration for this book was a little girl called Daisy who loved her food and was a wonderful little cook. She died suddenly at the age of 18 months and this book, written by her mother, is a tribute to an incredible daughter. All recipes have been donated by parents and the book is full of 130 practical and easy-to-prepare recipes that children will love. They have all been tested by a willing team of 20 mothers and, the most critical audience of all, their children. The author has attracted celebrity support from chefs, food writers and famous parents. Delia Smith, Nigella Lawson, Antony Worrall Thompson, Nigel Slater, Brian Turner, Gary Lineker and Emma Forbes are among the household names that have donated recipes. The book also has the endorsement of the Paediatric Dieticians of St. Mary's Hospital. Every recipe has been scored for its nutritional value and helpful hints are given on how to feed difficult children. Forewords have been written by leading paediatric experts and this will be the children's cookbook recommended by the paediatric team at the hospital. The author and publisher will donate proceeds raised from the sale of the book to the Isabel Medical Charity, which is funding an on-line paediatric diagnostic tool that aims to help doctors diagnose less recognized and rarer conditions as well as common paediatric illnesses. The charity aims to prevent children dying because their condition has been misdiagnosed.

Review

This is a beautifully colourful cookery book aimed at mums and children to cook together.

Most of the recipies have nutruitonal value roundals and have been well chosen. They are very delicious and we can see that the recipies have a great way of introducing new foods to young children.  I love the comment where the author says that when you have struggled to get the main course down, give them a fun desert and does it matter that they are a bit indulgent a really great gooey fun deserts!

This book has been written in memory of her daughter Daisy, who died at 18 months having been diagnosed with a very unknown condition, 'a non working spleen', which is very neccesary in young children.

I loved the content and will be giving this book to my adult children to use with their youngsters, and hopefully get them encouraging their children to eat better. Coloured pages and coloured pictures with simple recipies that kiddies can follow to make with mum or dad and grandparents.
