A Ghost in the Machine
Synopsis All men should have a hobby: it keeps them out from under their wives' feet. Dennis Brinkley's hobby, though, was killing machines. No wonder the village was uneasy...Mallory Lawson believes that inheriting his aunt's beautiful house in Forbes Abbot may have saved his sanity. It enables him to take early retirement from his appalling teaching job in London, and his wife Kate to realise her dream of starting her own company. Life will be so much simpler in the country, won't it? But Forbes Abbot is not quite the close-knit community it seems, and little differences and squabbles can become violent - even murderous. Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby has encountered many intriguing cases, but the case of the ghost in the machine is one to test even the most experienced of detectives. ReviewThis is the seventh novel in the Inspector Barnasby Serries by Caroline Graham, and I love them all. I think I have watched nearly every story on the television having been a fan of crime series for years. I enjoyed the way Caroline has written the novel and the way the twists and turns come about within her novel - many times I was reading and then trying to visulise how they would put it on to the small screen and how the characters that we have not met before would be portrayed. But, within the writing she describes with such excellent character sketches that they invariably leap out from the pages and grab you mind. I love her writing and look forward to reading and seeing many more Inspector Barnaby series on the book shelves and on the small screen.
