Hollyrood

Hollyrood is the flagship Autism Specific Residential Home set in 4 acres of grounds in Sussex, run by the Disabilities Trust and accommodating approximately 24 clients who are all on the autistic spectrum requiring specialised 24 hour care.

It has a wide variety of facilities from therapeutic workshops e.g pottery, craft, music and the sensory room and much much more. And in the future a therapeutic allotment type garden, where each client can have a plot to create something personal to them.

All the staff are highly trained and well versed in autism characteristics, as each client is uniquely different with their special needs being catered for. All the clients have 2 specific carers so there is always someone they know and who knows them well.

As clients improve - like Vicky and David's daughter Naomi - they are able to move into smaller community homes with all the Hollyrood facilities still available to them, but, with much more emphasis on being in the community.
