A Killing Frost
Synopsis The discovery of two young girls' bodies leaves Detective Inspector Jack Frost in a race to hunt down the killer before he, or she, can strike again. At the same time he faces a crisis at Denton police station which could result in him being sacked. Jack Frost, brought to magnificent life by David Jason in the TV series, staggers from crisis to crisis, his bumbling modus operandi disguising his extraordinary powers of detection. ReviewR D Wingfield has done it again in his latest and last book 'A Killing Frost'. As Stuart MacBride says on the jacket cover "I can't believe there won't be any more." Neither can I. To think that R D Windfield died last April and won't be writing any more Inspector Frost stories is a real loss not only to the reading public but also to the televison Frost fans all around the world. What I must say though is that he went out on an absolute high. This story starts with the murder of two young people, and then continues with multiple other bodies, lashings of police infighting and as usual Frost being shouted at by Mullett for his late expenses and crime figures etc. I have to say that I loved the charactor of Inspector Jack Frost and his love of his cup of tea and his bacon sandwiches etc., I love the way he interprets what he thinks he wants to on a case and then gets to solve it in a very round about way over what ever case he is involved in, but he always gets there in the end!!! This is one of those books you can not put down. Well written, very funny at times and yet it shows the witty and comic side of a very clever officer who allways gets his man. By foul means or true he knows that his gut insticts are always normaly correct. Yet again I say R D Windfield you did a great work writing all the books about Frost and we will miss your writing and your television series. ![]() |
