Review

Since buying my Kindle I have been downloading lots of freebie books and some really way out authors I have never heard of, plus a few under £2 ebooks. So far my favourite has been Patrick Ness - The New World - the prequel to his Walking Chaos Trilogy which I read whilst waiting in a hospital outpatients - time sped by very quickly to say the least!

Amazon's ereader uses the E Ink Pearl technology - meaning that there is no back light to worry about. In direct sunlight you can read the words on the screen without any reflection. However I do find it a bit dull to look at. I would like it to be a tad brighter - especially in darker light - and the keyboard to be as a part of the on screen menu rather than at the end of the 6" screen. The pluses are being able to make the font larger - a real boon - when all you seem to read are books with exceptionally small print especially paperbacks needing a magnifying glass!

I like the fact that you can file your books under a specfic genre or even several and when you start a book and have to close down the Kindle after each reading session - when you re open the ereader, there it is the page you left ready for you to carry on reading. It is like this for every book you open, making it very easy to read many books stopping and starting each one as the mood takes you. Also with this 3G version you can download a book in under a minute anywhere in the world - and I have downloaded a few quite hefty books in just a few seconds!

It is brilliant in the fact that you can carry approximately 3500 books! Will you read that many - no but it is ncie to be able to have any genre and style of book at your finger tips to suit your mood!

Do I recommend the ereader - a resounding yes, but will I give up reading a paper book no, because there is something soothing about holding a book and turning the pages and getting lost in the story, without swiping the screen to turn the page or clicking a button it's just not he same. However carrying around a small library in your bag or pocket is more than a few pluses.
